Devonia is a beautiful blend of three breeds local to John Arbon – Exmoor Blueface, Devon Bluefaced Leicester and Devon Wensleydale. The Exmoor Blueface is the local sheep and brings its wonderful springy nature, the Bluefaced Leicester lends its outstandingly soft handle and lustre to the yarn, whilst the Wensleydale adds its qualities of a beautiful golden sheen and fineness of fibre.
It's a standard DK so you can use this for just about any DK pattern you like although as usual, do check your tension. It would be absolutely glorious for colourwork.
Each 100g skein is 233m of 50% Exmoor Blueface, 30% Devon Bluefaced Leicester and 20% Devon Wensleydale. Cool hand wash.
The John Arbon ethos is one we aspire to; they work closely with Wooltops for their fleece - "Wooltops has an established supply chain that is 100% committed to focusing on the traceability of its wool products. Sourcing from the UK whenever possible, the British Falkland Islands, and from selected farms around the world, Andrew gets to know the farmers he works with and their sheep farming techniques that produce (Mulesing-free) premium wool. They work closely with spinning mills that share his ethos and enthusiasm (this is where John Arbon come in) so the passion shines through. Wooltops and John Arbon Textiles together, specialise in taking wool from the farm right through to the highest quality spun yarn."
Each Devonia shade is inspired by the work of renowned 19th century French tapestry artist Jean Lurça. Please note that the colours shown are the best we can do subject to the usual limitations of photography, subtle changes in light, dye lots etc.
