Oh. Just oh.
Exmoor Sock (not just for socks!) has character and bounce from Exmoor Blueface sheep (a cross between Exmoor Horn, full bodied and hard wearing, and Bluefaced Leicester, soft and lustrous). It's blended with Devon Zwartbles, a naturally dark brown/black which gives extra bounce and flecks and shimmers of colour. Then there's some Falklands Corriedale to enhance the softness and stitch definition and a hint of nylon for added durabililty.
Wonderful for colourwork - ooh see bands of these around the yoke and cuffs of a jumper.....
All the colours are inspired by the Exmoor landscape where the folk of John Arbon live and work and the names are local words for stuff - for instance an aggy is a caterpillar (not to be confused with a Welsh Oggy) and dimity means dusk (love that!).
Each 50g skein is approximatley 200m of 60% Exmoor Blueface, 20% Corriedale, 10% Zwartbles and 10% nylon. Standard 4ply so you can use it for just about any 4ply pattern, remember to always check your tension.
The John Arbon ethos is one we aspire to; they work closely with Wooltops for their fleece - "Wooltops has an established supply chain that is 100% committed to focusing on the traceability of its wool products. Sourcing from the UK whenever possible, the British Falkland Islands, and from selected farms around the world, Andrew gets to know the farmers he works with and their sheep farming techniques that produce (Mulesing-free) premium wool. They work closely with spinning mills that share his ethos and enthusiasm (this is where John Arbon come in) so the passion shines through. Wooltops and John Arbon Textiles together, specialise in taking wool from the farm right through to the highest quality spun yarn."
Please note that the colours shown are the best we can do subject to the usual limitations of photography, subtle changes in light, dye lots etc.
