Inspired by the colours created by the sun glinting off a duck's head.... irridescent, beautiful.... the only way to go was pure silk..... Yes, this is pure silk that's been hand-dyed with the purple, black, green and blue that show up in those feathers. Some of the silk remains undyed, you might call it a stonewashed effect but Vixter prefers to think of it as the glittering sparks of sunlight against the rich, jewel-like pigmented areas.
There are just two of these yarn cakes - they are 100g/150m each (silk is heavy and doesn't go a very long way but it's worth it) of Aran-weight yarn. Sure there's not enough here for a whole garment but it would make an amazing highlight against a plainer yarn - think Fyberspates Tarma, for instance, which is a semi-solid Aran with alpaca. Oh the luxury!
Unsurprisingly we recommend hand-wash separately in cool water.
