This is an exciting and very rare yarn, spun exclusively from Cotswold sheep who live in luxury on the Marlborough downs. Cotswold wool is the original "golden fleece" of the Cotswolds; it's how so many of our English "wool" towns made their wealth, including Devizes where we are based.

With every purchase, you will receive some information (and maybe a photo!) of the very sheep that this wool came from. It's high-welfare stuff, the flock is no-slaughter by shepherds and shepherdesses that we know personally. We are privileged and proud to be able to offer this wool to you.

Worsted spun for a smooth finish with a very slight halo, this wool is crisp and defined, with a cool handle that's slightly reminiscent of linen. It will knit (or crochet) to a fine fabric with good drape, think shawls, summer jumpers and t-shirts, or excellent socks.  It will bloom with use.

The photo has come out fairly true to its colour - a pale but rich gold with a sheen. Use it as is (it's so beautiful) or dye it if you wish.

We are offering it to you undyed, by weight, just as it came from the spinner.

Please note - the skein shown is a sample, you are buying by weight and each skein differs in size. For comparison, its £18 per 100g, weights are given in grams. We are unsure of the metreage but we believe you could need around 120g for a pair of mid-calf socks.
