A revised and updated version of my "Savernake" pattern, to make best use of some gorgeous yarn. The pattern alternates between a relatively easy lace section and a very easy garter stitch section and can be made using any yarn you like. For the sample shown in the pattern, you'll need the following, all of which is available in person from my shop Pins & Needles in Devizes:
Two 50g balls "Wool Sisters" pure felted wool by Schopelle Wolle, one 25g ball Fashion Mohair Rainbows by Rico, and a 5mm x 80cm circular knitting needle (you work back & forth but you need a circular needle to accommodate the large number of stitches as the shawl grows).
I would say it's an easy-to-intermediate level design, suitable for someone who'd like to try lacy patterns without having to worry too much about making mistakes (they are very hard to see when the shawlette is bundled up around one's neck) or making a garment that needs to fit!
You can arrange to pick up a printed copy of this pattern from Pins & Needles if you'd like to save on postage, choose "pick up" at checkout. If you are having it posted, choose "small letter."
