I'm hosting and tutoring a two-part course to knit a top-down jumper (no sewing up to do!) for yourself.
Techniques will include casting on and joining to work in the round, raglan shaping or yoke increases, dividing for the armholes, and how to adapt the size if wished.
The cost of the course is £30 which gets you your tuition on both days, some practice yarn, 10% off your choice of yarn and needles, and yummy refreshments for both days. Part 2 is scheduled for Wednesday 17th June but if you can't make that, we might be able to make other arrangements. You will need to do some homework (knitting!) in between sessions.
You'll need to decide on which style you want to make, buy your pattern and yarn, and buy your needles if you don't already have what's needed. Ideally you'll visit my shop (Pins & Needles in Devizes) ahead of this first workshop so you can choose from DK or Chunky, raglan or yoke (I'll help you with this if you aren't sure). You can if you wish wait until after the first session to choose your yarns - we can pop back to the shop immediately afterwards, it's only just round the corner.
There are lots of yarns to choose from, from budget-friendly to luxury - it can be as cheap & cheerful or as luxurious as you want to make it. You'll need two sizes of needles, likely to cost around £10 for the two sets.
Whilst you'll get lots of help, this isn't for complete beginners - you will need to know how to cast on, knit, purl and cast off. There is a limit of six people for this course, to ensure you get the support you need.
We will meet upstairs at Caffe Vialottie in Devizes, ready to kick off at 1pm prompt on Wednesday 3rd June, until they kick us out at 4pm. Of course you can break whenever you want!
Cancellation policy: If I have to cancel, you'll get a full refund and an opportunity to buy the "ingredients" to have a go on your own if you wish. If you cancel, sorry but I can only issue a refund if the course is full and I can re-sell your place. If you do cancel, you will still be able to buy a pattern and yarn etc to make a jumper at your leisure.
You can book your place online or you can come into Pins & Needles and pay in cash (can't take a card payment for this course). If you book online, choose "pick up" at checkout as there aren't actually any tickets to post out (I keep a guest list), so you aren't charged postage.
