Old Shale stitch is ay favourite knitting pattern; it’s traditional, it’s pretty, it’s easy, it’s lofty, bouncy, gorgeous. It’s the perfect stitch for a pair of armwarmers that will see you through the cooler Autumn and Winter days. The stitch also makes a little dip at the top of the hand, perfect for showing off your pretty rings and painted fingernails. These armwarmers are fit for the Queen of the Fairies herself.
The mitts are best made with a lightweight yarn, we've used James C Brett Shhh here which is a DK but you might find that a more robust 4ply or a 6ply/sportweight works quite nicely. If you do use something other than Shhh, be sure to check your tension.
You will also need a pair of 3.75mm knitting needles.
We will post a printed copy to you - choose small letter - but if you'd like to receive it sooner, let us have your e-mail address and we'll do it that way as well. If you'd like to save postage, you can choose to pick up a printed copy from Pins & Needles in Devizes.
